Arising to serve in ontario

"O that I could travel, even though on foot and in the utmost poverty, to these regions..."

Bahá’ís and their friends throughout the province are continually finding creative ways to be of service to their communities, be it in their own localities or at times, by traveling to other areas that may benefit from support. People of all ages are welcome to serve in a variety of ways, some of which are described below.

YOUTH SERVICE

Offering a period of service can take a number of different forms, depending on a young person’s circumstances, geographic location and capacities. We recognize how significant making the decision to dedicate time to serve can be in a young person’s life and how valuable it is to connect to others in that process. A number of both conceptual and practical questions often arise and you are more than welcome to reach out to inquire about opportunities through the Institute Board of Ontario at instituteboard@ontariobahai.org

“To every generation of young believers comes an opportunity to make a contribution to the fortunes of humanity, unique to their time of life. For the present generation, the moment has come to reflect, to commit, to steel themselves for a life of service from which blessing will flow in abundance.”

-Universal House of Justice, 2013

PIONEERING

The Baha’i Council of Ontario recently raised a call for pioneers, those who will relocate to better assist with activities in other parts of the region to help meet the goals of the current plan. Larger clusters or localities in Ontario are increasingly serving as reservoirs of experience and accompaniment across subregions, and there is also a unique opportunity for traveling tutors and teams to serve in particular areas in the region.

Homefront pioneers will be supported through participation in spaces and initiatives in reservoir clusters, through regional institute campaigns and seminars and, where and when possible, the support of mobile teams and tutors. Offers of short-term pioneering and youth offering periods of service are also welcomed.

If you are interested in applying to serve as a homefront pioneer in any of these clusters or localities or would like a list of current clusters and areas needing pioneers, please email us at council@ontariobahai.org
